TRAINEESHIPS FOR 16-18 YEAR OLDS
Our Sports Coaching training programme works with local sports coaching companies to provide the opportunity to develop the skills needed to work in the sports coaching industry.
Our Construction pathway works with local construction pathways to help young people through qualifications and gain experience in various areas of the construction industry.
Who is it for: This specific traineeship is for 16-19 year olds who are not currently in education or employment, who have a maximum Level 2 qualification (GCSE or BTEC).The applicants must have a desire to work in the sports coaching or leisure industries. Applicants will also need a clean DBS check so cannot have a criminal record.
Where: The sports traineeships are mainly based in the Thanet (Sports Coaching and Leisure) and Swale (Sports Coaching only)area. Construction traineeships can be based further afield but transport is provided.
The Programme: The traineeship will last up to a maximum of 3 months and will include:
- Up to 30 hours per week of work experience with a high quality local sports coaching companies
- English and maths support if required, provided by the training organisation
- A fully funded qualification appropriate to the area you want to work in
- Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid Qualifications if required for your area of potential work
- Employability workshops for the sports coaching, leisure and construction industries.
In addition to these basic elements, the employer and the training provider can add flexible additional content to meet the needs of the business and the local labour market.
At the end of the traineeship, each young person will be guaranteed a job interview if a role becomes available or an exit interview together with meaningful written feedback to help them secure an apprenticeship or employment with another employer.

To register your interest in the traineeship please click below to register. The following steps will then take place.
1. You will receive contact from a member of the employment pathways team to discuss your interest in the traineeship
2. Interviews will be held on Friday 24th of January in Thanet (venue to be confirmed). You will be invited to an interview and will be required to attend, you will also need to complete a DBS application at interview.
3. If you are successful at interview you will be invited to a registration day
4. The traineeships will start early February.
