TSC recently took 4 teams to the R&T South East Championship at Camber Sands over the Bank Holiday weekend to compete with teams from across the country in a 2 day tournament. Teams from our under 7,9, 11 and a mixture of our 14/15 age groups made the journey.
The under 7s had huge success, they started off with two wins and were cruising before a strange game ended with their first loss of the tournament. The second day in the pouring rain the under 7s stepped up a level winning all thei remaining group games to finish top and qualify for the final. A superb performance in the final gave the team a convincing 3-0 and they took the trophy home. This was a brilliant performance for the 7s in their first tournament with us and they played excellent football throughout.IMG_3205
The under 9s were drawn in a really tough group with some top teams and found the first couple of fixtures hard going before rallying for the last fixture of the day to pick up their first result. The second day was a different story, the 9s upping their game all round and putting in some spectacular performances. The played 3 games on the second day and won all of them pushing them right up their group to finish 4th overall. Great compliment can be paid to the boys character and the way they applied themselves after a difficult first day to come back and play so well.
Our under 11s group played with a small squad so the first day 3 under 10s helped out. The 11s started off well but with tough games every result was hard earned, they finished the day with 2 wins, a draw and a loss but this was a great set of results with players playing up a year and fitting straight in. The second day the 11s had a huge task with the bare 9 players and playing all the teams above them in the group. They certainly upped their game and put in some brilliant performances throughout the day. They won all 3 group games against higher placed teams without conceding a goal and earned themselves a place in the final. The boys advanced to the final in confident mood against a talented Staines Town team. The 11s again put in a solid defensive performance and pushed forward to attack at the right times earning themselves a 1-0 win and the winners trophy.

We competed in the 15s age group with a squad made up of half 15s and half 14s players, again a big ask for the players stepping up but they were brilliant throughout the weekend. What was the most impressive was the leadership displayed by the 15s in supporting and encouraging their younger team mates. The younger players responded by not looking out of place playing in an older age group. The first day started with a confident win and the boys didn’t concede a goal all day. It was tough finding the back of the net and having goals dissalowed ended with the boys finishing with 2 draws and a win. The second day was tougher but the boys responded and put in some great performances again. They conceded one goal all weekend and the performances were excellent, the boys finished 3rd but were extremely unlucky not to make it into the final.

In what was a brilliant weekend we would like to thank all the players and parents for representing TSC so well. The coaching team had a great time and we look forward to many more trips like this in the future.
